WITH GOD - Created in God's image, you are a spiritual being. Through the work of grace from the Holy Spirit, God prompts us to connect with Him through Jesus Christ. Need to connect with God? We can help you.
WITH OTHERS - The cross points vertically towards God, but also horizontally towards others. Jesus summarized all the commandments to two; love God and love others. Need relationships restored? Trust God and believe. Let us help you become a gateway to a network.
THROUGH PRAYER - Because of what Jesus has done through His death and resurrection, the access to God has been made available to you. Mark 11:22-24 says the following: So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them."
THROUGH WORSHIP - At The Legacy Church we connect to God through the simplicity of worship. Songs are chosen to connect people's hearts to God and to exalt Jesus for all He has done in our lives. From traditional to contemporary worship you are sure to experience His presence whether in our English or Spanish worship times.
WITH YOUR PURPOSE - What are you living for? What legacy are you leaving behind? Let us help you discover your divine purpose and help you reach your dreams, goals and destiny.
So, IMAGINE your life CONNECTED with God, Others, in Prayer, in Worship and with a Purpose. At The Legacy Church, that's how you are seen.
What happens after being connected? Well, a baby is connected to its mother in the womb ... and it grows. A fruit is connected to the vine ... and it grows. So, once connected, the natural progression is growth. So how does a person grow "in Christ" once connected to Christ?
You have heard the saying, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." As part of the mission of The Legacy Church, we are commanded by Jesus to teach people to "Observe all things that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:20). And so, as we teach, you grow. As you grow, the church grows. As the church grows in knowledge and in wisdom, the kingdom of God continues to come to the earth, just as Jesus prayed, "Your kingdom come" in Matthew 6:10.
So looking specifically at the four dimensions of growth in the life of Jesus as recorded in Luke, "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men" (Luke 2:52 NKJV), we see how Jesus grew and this becomes our hope and prayer for your growth. How?:
In Wisdom - Proverbs tells us that the beginning of wisdom is to "fear the Lord" (Proverbs 9:10). You begin to grow by recognizing His presence within you. Jesus showed His wisdom at age twelve when He sat with the scholars of His day in the temple. He gave us the example of loving the words of His Father so that we may increase in knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. Jesus also said, "My words are spirit and life." As you begin to learn God's Word, not only will you grow but also discover that God breathes life to your divine purpose.
In Stature - Jesus being well nourished, grew in stature. How is your health? Did you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit? He has decided to live in us. As such, we take care of our bodies. We also recognize there is sickness all around us but we believe Jesus heals. If you are sick and would like prayer, fill out a prayer request and let us pray for you. You are not alone on this journey. By becoming part of the Body of Christ we take care of each other and grow together.
In Favor with God - Jesus summarized all the commandments in the Old Testament into two: the first is to love God. As you develop and deepen your relationship and love for God, His favor becomes more evident in your daily life. Do we deserve it? Absolutely not! But to the degree we seek first His kingdom and righteousness, favor happens.
In Favor with Man - the second is to love others. Can you believe that He can make even your enemies be at peace with you? "When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him (Proverbs 16:7). Come and learn how to build great relationships. You can begin by meeting us here.
And so, IMAGINE your life GROWING in Wisdom, in Stature (Health), in Favor with God, and in Favor with Man. At The Legacy Church, that's how you are seen.
At the end of Jesus' ministry on earth He washed the feet of His disciples. Not only were they to become the future leaders of the church but Jesus was teaching them to become Servant Leaders. After He washed their feet He said, "For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you." The principle of this example is that once we are connected and we grow, we get to serve. We don't have to, we get to. So, what is the best way to serve?
YOUR FAMILY - God told Abraham that in him "all of the families of the earth would be blessed." Let's face it, we all enjoy being served. Jesus asked one day, "who is more important, he who sits at the table or he who serves?" His answer was, "he who serves is greater." We believe first and foremost that because we sit mostly with our families at the table, we should take that opportunity to serve them.
YOUR COMMUNITY - In Jesus' first sermon, The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-8), He said we were the light of the earth and the salt of the earth. Once connected and growing, our light shines and our words bring hope. This is the work of the Holy Spirit operating within us. We best shine our light and bring salt to the earth by serving in the community. Studies have shown that people are most happy when they serve others. Here is where the principle of "you shall love your neighbor as yourself" applies.
YOUR CHURCH - Whether you are in a large mega church or a small church, everyone can serve in the local church. The church continues to grow by the efforts of all. Here at The Legacy church you can serve with the gifts and talents God has given you. In advance, thank you for serving at The Legacy Church.
And so, IMAGINE your life SERVING your family, your community and your local church. At The Legacy Church, that's how you are seen.
Having been connected, growing and serving, there comes a time that you become an instrument of God's grace to reach others.
For the Apostle Paul it meant this, "Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved" (Romans 10:1).
For Peter it was reaching outside of his comfort zone and entering the house of Cornelius, a gentile (Acts 10). For Philip it was reaching into the desert to take the gospel to a man of Ethiopia (Acts 8).
We believe that as believers in Christ we all share in the responsibility to fulfill The Great Commission, taking the good news of the gospel by reaching as far as our hands can touch. For some that may be a friend, a neighbor or a co-worker. For others it may be reaching an entire family. For those called to higher purpose, it can be reaching nations. At The Legacy church we want to help you REACH others.
How can we reach? By using the words of Christ as a guide in Acts 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” we see the ripple effect of the expanding gospel as we start near and reach out further:
IN JERUSALEM - those immediately around you, primarily your family, your co-workers, your friends. In others words, this group will not be strangers. You have established a relationship and these people in your life are fertile ground for the planting of the gospel seed.
IN JUDEA - In the days of Christ, it was "to the Jew first". Outside of your closest friends and family are other friends and family of those already connected to you. They are friends and family of your friends and family. Said another way, "Everyone is a gateway to a network". By the established relationships you currently have, you can reach the Judean people through your Jerusalem contacts.
IN SAMARIA - Peter initially said "no" when told to go to the house of a gentile named Cornelius (Acts 10). But here's the deal: when we asked Christ to come into our lives, He not only became our Savior but He became Lord. What does that mean? Well for Paul it meant, "I no longer live, Christ lives in me" (Galatians 2:20). So as followers of Christ we have the responsibility to reach not only those we do not know, but even those we may not be in peace with. This is because it is no longer about us but about Him.
For Peter, taking the gospel to the world was a matter of breaking the religious and cultural barriers that prevented him from going into the house of a gentile. That's why Jesus said, "you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you" (Acts 1:8). We cannot go to strangers or the spiritually lost on our own "want to be politically correct" strength. We need power. At The Legacy Church, we can teach you about this supernatural power to become a witness for Christ.
TO THE END OF THE EARTH - Wow! How is this possible? With today's technology we can see how this is possible. While it certainly can mean going physically into the mission fields (and The Legacy Church does support missions), it can also mean taking full advantage of the resources God puts in our hands to reach all those who are un-reached. Jesus said "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come (Matthew 24:14). That is our commitment; to REACH those that God places into the length of our arms. Will you join us?
And so, IMAGINE your life REACHING your Jerusalem family, your Judean community, your Samarian strangers and to the ends of the earth. At The Legacy Church, that's how you are seen.
